What Are Color Enhancing Lenses?
By now, you've probably heard about Color Enhancing lenses. But what are they really. and why should you get a pair?
Halloween is a time for spooky things, scary movies, lots of candy, and we can’t forget - dressing up! However, some of us may not be as excited about the dressing up part. It can be hard to think of a creative costume idea each year, or even finding the time or energy to put a costume idea together. Whatever the reason may be, we’ve made your life a little easier this year. Read this post for a list of simple costume ideas so that anyone can join in on the festivities.
What You Will Need:
Top Gun is a popular movie in the late 1980s that is filled with action, drama, and adventure. The costume itself is pretty simple. All you need is a plain white T-shirt, a dark green jacket (patches are optional), you can also accessorize with a green book bag. The bookbag is also optional, but it’ll make a great place to stash your candy, keys, and whatever other stuff you would like to throw in there. Just finish off the look with some aviators with dark lenses, and you are now a pilot for Halloween!
What You Will Need:
Everyone knows about the old nursery rhyme. But, the three blind mice is also another easy costume idea. You will need two other friends to join you for this. The three of you need to dress in all white (or black or grey), this will represent the “fur”. The next thing you will all need is mouse ears and tails. This can be homemade or you can buy them online or in a costume store. Dark sunglasses are then used to finish up the look, but a nice touch would be a buy or make a cane or some sort of walking stick.
What You Will Need:
If you want a more elegant look for Haloween, Breakfast at Tiffany’s might be your source of inspiration. What you need is a little black dress, some pearls, some statement earrings, long black gloves, an updo, and a little tiara. Some people top off the look with a long cigarette, but I prefer the coffee and croissant as a prop. So you can munch and stay caffeinated throughout the night. Finish the look with oversized sunglasses and you are good to go!
What You Will Need:
A common go-to costume for Halloween is a cop. You can buy the cheap cop costumes at the store, which are super low quality. Or you can make one yourself (it’s easier than it looks). You will need a navy button-up shirt, slacks to match and a badge. Badges can be found in local toy stores, but if you’re too lazy for even that you can buy it off the internet. Finish off the look with black aviators.
What You Will Need:
In the 60s, Hippies were a group of people who believed in love and peace and who disliked the conformity of modern society. It was a culture and a lifestyle, so there is no real way to define this costume. But, today we relate this movement with bright, psychedelic colors and lots of flowers and chunky jewelry. Look back in your closet or hit up a local thrift store looking for items that are loose and flowy, and have bright colors or flower patterns. Top off the look with some non-flashy jewelry, headbands/bandanas, peace signs, and some round tinted shades.
What You Will Need:
It’s easy for anyone to channel “The Prince of Darkness” this Halloween. It works best if you have shoulder length straight hair, that way to you can just part it in the middle. But, if you don’t, a dark brown wig will also do just fine. Then you need dark clothes, this can be black or dark blue and usually long sleeves or suit jackets with a black t-shirt. Then you will need teashade sunglasses (or any round sunglasses), and a black sharpie to write Ozzy on your fingers as shown above. You can also accessorize with a simple chain around the neck or a watch around your wrist, just make sure it isn’t something too flashy.
What You Will Need:
John Lennon had an extensive and long career, so there are different eras of John you can dress up as. Here is a picture of New Yorker John Lennon, from 1974. This era of John is shortly before he retired from the music scene, an older more mature John. You will need a simple white New York City tank or T-shirt that you can make into a muscle shirt. You can also always grab fabric paint and write New York City yourself. Some regular blue jeans. A black belt with a buckle (of your choice), and some dark Teashade (or round) sunglasses. A thin chain with a cross and long wavy hair work to finish up the costume.
What You Will Need:
If you lack hair from the top of your head, then dressing up as Pitbull might be a good fit for you. All you need to do is wear your Sunday’s best. A tie is optional, but a jacket is a must. Add in a nice watch to accessorize, if you want. But the one thing you absolutely need is dark sunglasses. This simple look is now complete, congratulations! Dale!
Soulja Boy
What You Will Need:
Crank That was a 2000s rap classic, people were doing the superman. You can now capitalize on the iconic 2000s style of oversized shirts and baggy pants. All you need is a red shirt that is two to three times your size, oversized white jacket, and baggy black sweat pants. To accessorize the look you will need a white baseball cap styled sideways, an oversized chain around your neck, and white sunglasses with “Souja Boy” written on the lenses. (We recommend doing this in old, already scratched up lenses so you don’t do any damage).
What You Will Need:
Like the three blind mice, you will need two other friends to join you for this one. Unlike the blind mice, you will need lots of bling. If it’s particularly chilly that day, you can wear black long sleeves and a black jacket like the photo above. You also need to layer on a lot of (fake) gold chains and bracelets. Maybe add some big rings and a watch. A stack of fake money in your pocket is a nice addition to this over the top look. Fashionable sunglasses are also a must and to really go all out, you can make yourself some grills with aluminum foil.
Did you notice a theme here? All of these costumes have sunglasses. After you secure the candy on Halloween, check us out for replacement lenses for any of these style sunglasses, and more!
We hope you found some inspiration for the season in this list of easy costume ideas. Anyone can put in as much or as little effort as they want for your costume and still come out looking great. The most important thing on Halloween is to stay safe and have fun.
