The Importance of Impact Resistance

When it comes to purchasing lenses for eyeglasses or sunglasses, many people focus solely on the style, color, and price. However, there's one crucial factor that should not be overlooked, the impact resistance of the lenses. So why is it important to look for impact resistant lenses? And how do they protect your eyes?

What are impact resistant lenses?

So what are impact resistant lenses?  Impact resistant lenses are designed to withstand sudden and forceful impacts that could otherwise cause serious injury to your eyes. Whether you are engaged in high-impact sports or simply going about your daily routine, your eyes are always at risk of being hit by flying objects, debris, or even the frames of your eyeglasses or sunglasses. With impact resistant lenses, you can rest assured that your eyes are well protected against such incidents.

What are impact resistant lenses made of?

Impact resistant lenses are made of highly durable materials such as polycarbonate or Trivex, which are much stronger and more resilient than regular plastic lenses. These materials are specifically engineered to absorb shock and distribute the force of an impact, minimizing the risk of cracks, chips, or shattering. This means that even if your glasses are dropped or hit, the lenses are less likely to break, which could otherwise result in sharp pieces of glass or plastic getting into your eyes.

Are impact resistant lenses better quality?

Another benefit of impact resistant lenses is that they offer superior optical quality compared to regular plastic lenses. This is because impact resistant materials have a higher refractive index, which means they can bend light more efficiently, resulting in sharper and clearer vision. Additionally, many impact resistant lenses come with advanced coatings such as anti-glare or anti scratch, which further enhance their performance and durability.

Impact resistant lenses are a must have for anyone who wants to ensure the long term health and safety of their eyes.  Whether you need lenses for eyeglasses or sunglasses, make sure to look for impact resistant options that are made of high quality materials, offer superior optical performance, and are designed to withstand the rigors of daily use. By investing in impact resistant lenses, you can enjoy clear vision, maximum protection, and greater peace of mind.
