Why You Should Replace Your Lenses
What do you do when your lenses get scratched or crack? Do you buy a whole new pair of sunglasses?
Odds are, you’ve been staring at your phone, computer or maybe even both, for most of the day. In this day and age, we’re all seemingly sucked into our gadgets and when it comes to work or school, most of us don’t really have much of a say in how much screen time we’re intaking. We’ve grown so used to it in our society that it’s tough to tell if all these electronics are influencing our brains, bodies, or even our eyes, but based on what the studies in recent times are showing, it can take a toll on you. Here at Fuse Lenses, we want to be part of the solution, so let’s start with learning more about a little invention called Blue Light Glasses!
Although blue light is the brightest kind of light, it also has a dark side… Blue light is the visible part of the color spectrum with the shortest wavelength, meaning it has the highest level of energy output. Think of LEDs, fluorescent tubes and even the sun, this is also the kind of light that’s in all our smartphones, TVs and computers. Even though all these electronics are great at keeping our attention and making sure that we can see things clearly, blue light doesn’t come without its long list of potential side effects. Blue light rays from any source damage the cells in our retinas over time. Humans don’t have natural blue-light blocking protection built into our retinas, which is exactly why we need protection, like blue light glasses and changing the tints of our screens.
Since the research is ongoing, the problems that we do know of don’t cover the full scope of damage that blue light exposure can result in over time. Problems we know of so far include cataracts, macular degeneration and even growths or cancers. The rays can also cause headaches and nausea from the added strain to our eyes, and they naturally keep us awake. This means that looking at your electronics at night can disturb your natural sleeping cycle, even hours after you’ve turned them off. Lack of sleep can lead to depression, anxiety, weight gain or loss, mood swings, high blood pressure and can even increase your risk of getting in accidents. Of course, given that we’re in the 21st century, simply shutting off all electronics once the sun goes down in the evening isn’t in the cards for most of us.
So, you may be asking yourself, “What can I do to help my eye health and mental health without having to sacrifice my nightly Netflix binge or put my phone away as soon as the sun sets?” and to that, here at Fuse we have just the solution for you… our Blue Light glasses! They’re not sunglasses, so you won’t be looking through a dark tint to see everything which is especially the last thing you want indoors. This innovative gadget uses a special tinting technology to block against eye strain and potential long-term damage from the rays of blue light in our glasses. You can think of blue light glasses like sunscreen, which blocks damaging rays without making us sacrifice all the fun of soaking in the sun. Our blue light glasses give you the protection you need against the eye straining effects of blue light, while still letting you watch your favorite shows at night, staying up to browse social media, or whatever else that requires you to use your electronics!
